About this test

What this test measures

The liver is one of your largest organs and is responsible for hundreds of different functions as blood passes through it. Measure your levels of different enzymes and proteins with your health test to determine if your liver is functioning normally and whether it's responding to damage or disease.

This test measures certain enzymes, proteins, and other substances made by the liver to help you understand if your liver is functioning normally.
Alanine Transferase (ALT): This enzyme aids in converting proteins into energy for your liver. Elevated ALT levels can serve as an early indicator of liver damage.

Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST): This enzyme metabolizes amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. Increased AST levels can signify liver disease or damage to your liver and muscles.

Bilirubin: A byproduct of the natural breakdown of red blood cells, bilirubin is excreted through the stool. High bilirubin levels can indicate liver damage or disease, or certain types of anemia.

Albumin: This protein, produced by your liver, plays a key role in preventing blood leakage out of the vessels. Low albumin levels can be a sign of liver damage or disease.

Who should take this test

Our Liver Panel is designed for anyone who is at an increased risk for liver disease, whether due to family history, lifestyle choices, or certain medications. It's also ideal for those experiencing potential symptoms of liver disease. Since liver damage or disease can often be silent or unnoticed, regular testing is an essential preventive measure. It can also help you monitor the progression of liver-related diseases, screen for infections like hepatitis, or monitor potential side effects of certain medications. Protect your health and take a proactive approach to your wellbeing with our Liver Panel.

You must be age 18 or older to take this test. Due to state restrictions, this test is not available to residents of New York

What to know about liver health

Your liver health
The liver is one of your largest organs and is responsible for hundreds of different functions as blood passes through it. As your liver processes blood from the stomach and intestines, it helps your body digest food, store energy, and filter out waste. Another important function of the liver is to break down nutrients from food and metabolize drugs so that they can be used by your body.

Test yourself conveniently and talk to a healthcare provider
Regularly monitoring your liver health and function can be a good way to stay proactive about your health. Get your test to collect your sample at home and review results right from your Cue Health App. Plus, it's easier than ever to discuss your results with on-demand telehealth visits through your App.

Reducing your risk
When it comes to your liver health, a little prevention can go a long way. Good communication with your healthcare provider can help you better understand how your lifestyle impacts your liver.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the results?

The laboratories we partner with to process Cue tests are CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited, which means they meet the highest standards for pathology and laboratory medicine. Additionally, each of our test kits are assembled in FDA-registered manufacturing facilities.

How long does the testing process take?

In most cases, your results will be available 3 to 5 business days after the lab receives your sample. You’ll be notified once you can securely review your results in the Cue Health App. If your results are delayed, our customer service team will reach out to you.

Holidays may cause shipping and laboratory delays. These holidays include:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Will my insurance cover the cost of the test?

Cue tests are not currently covered by insurance, but we are actively working with health insurance companies to get coverage for Cue Health solutions. However, many Cue Care tests are FSA/HSA eligible, which means that your health benefits may be able to cover Cue. We recommend connecting with your insurance provider directly to inquire more about their policies and your plan. We work hard to keep our pricing accessible, and in most cases, the price of a Cue Care test is similar to the out-of-pocket costs for testing in a clinical setting.

I ordered my kit. What should I do next?

Get started by downloading the Cue Health App. Please ensure you’ve installed the latest version (1.16 or newer). Follow step-by-step instructions within your app and sample collection kit to collect and mail in your sample. If you have trouble registering your test kit, please reach customer support from the Cue Health App. You may also contact support@cuehealth.com or 1 (833)-CUE-TEST.

How will I receive my results?

In most circumstances, your results will be ready within 3-5 business days of the lab receiving your sample. You’ll be notified once you can securely review your results in the Cue Health App. Your health data is sent confidentially, and complies with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.

Health test results can vary from person to person. We recommend speaking with a healthcare provider if you want to better understand your test, or if you have unexpected or abnormal results. You may also receive additional information from our team via email within 24 hours. If your results are invalid or you want to repeat your test, please contact customer support at 1 (833) 283-8378 or email cuecaresupport@cue.me.

Will my package be shipped discreetly?

Your package will be delivered discreetly by Amazon, our delivery fulfillment partner. Your order will always arrive in an Amazon box with no test names or Cue Health-branded images. Cue Health will not appear anywhere on your package in normal circumstances; however, it may occasionally appear on your shipping label on rare occasions.

Are at-home tests kits available in every state?

Due to state restrictions, Cue mail-in lab tests are not available to residents of New York. Additionally, the Colon Cancer Screening, the Women’s Sexual Health Panel, and the Men’s Sexual Health Panel is not available to residents of New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. These restrictions do not apply to Cue’s COVID-19 test.

What support will I get with my results?

What your test means about your health varies from person to person. If you have questions or want to discuss your results, we recommend speaking with a healthcare provider. You can go to the Care tab in your App to chat with a provider and access 24/7 virtual care; however, you should speak to your doctor if you want to inquire about unexpected or concerning results. If you test positive for certain conditions with a Cue test, you can access treatment with Cue Care™ services at no extra cost. If you receive a prescription, you’ll just have to cover the cost of your medicine. Please check the Cue Health App or our Cue Care FAQs for more information on which conditions are treated.
